AIRTEL TACTICS TO TACKLE JIO                              GIGA FIBER

Bharti Airtel didn’t take much time to respond to Jio’s aggressive foray into the broadband segment. Airtel has removed FUP limit on its broadband plans with immediate effect in Hyderabad city. As of now, Airtel has removed the limit only in Hyderabad city and in other cities, the telco is still providing broadband plans with FUP limit on a monthly basis.

All the Airtel broadband plans in Hyderabad city now offers unlimited data without any limit. Furthermore, it seems like Airtel has limited the plans to just four in the city as opposed to earlier five plans. For the unaware, a couple of months ago, Airtel announced a high-speed 300 Mbps broadband plan in the city for a monthly rental of Rs 2,199.

As highlighted on its official site, Airtel is offering unlimited broadband data for each of the broadband plans available in the Hyderabad circle. This means there isn't any data limit until which you can avail the high-speed Internet access on your connection. This is unlike the case if you're using an Airtel broadband connection in any circles other than Hyderabad. For instance, the Rs. 799 broadband plan in Delhi comes with a broadband data limit of 100GB. While Airtel broadband subscribers opting the Rs. 349 plan in Hyderabad can avail Internet speeds of up to 8Mbps, the Rs. 1,299 plan comes with up to 100Mbps speeds. These speeds are fair enough to surf the Web or to download documents from an email or in some cases download audio or video files. However, Reliance Jio is promising to deliver as high as 1Gbps of speeds through its Jio GigaFiber network that was launched earlier this week and registrations are set to open on August 15 across 1,100 cities in India.

            DATA ROLL OVER AVAILABLE

As you might be aware of, Airtel also bundles these plans with Data Rollover option, which it introduced a while back. But with the new revision, the Data Rollover facility will no more be applicable to these plans as they provide unlimited data without any FUP limit. Also, Airtel removed the bonus data offer for these plans in Hyderabad city. It will be interesting to see whether on when Airtel will make these changes to its broadband plans in other cities such as Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai and others.
