DEFENDING CHAMPIONS THRASHED OUT WHILE MEXICO STAYS !!!

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS              THRASHED OUT WHILE MEXICO STAYS

The defending champions are out, eliminated in the first round. GERMANY has been sensationally booted out of the World Cup before the knockout stage for the first time since 1938. The reigning World Cup champions left fans around the world in awe, failing to score a goal against underdog South Korea in their third clash in Russia.

Germany went into the match in third place in Group F, and needed a win to qualify for the tournament’s knockout phase. But neither side could break through and find the net before the 90-minute mark.

STOPPAGE TIME HORROR !@!

Germany went into the match in third place in Group F, and needed a win to qualify for the tournament’s knockout phase. But neither side could break through and find the net before the 90-minute mark.

South Korea controversially claimed its first goal in stoppage time after yet another VAR blow-up saw a potential offside call land in its favour. A 2-0 defeat to South Korea in Kazan following stoppage-time goals from Kim Young-gwon and Son Heung-min condemned the four-time champions to an ignominious bottom-place finish in Group F.

The dejected Germans, shell-shocked after conceding the first goal of the crucial match in the final seconds of stoppage time, completely fell apart and allowed Korean star Son Heung-min to cruise through their defence and score a second.

MEDIA CURSES ALL OVER THE WORLD

It is the first time Germany has finished outside the top four of the World Cup since 1998.
Germany’s elimination also continues the World Cup curse for reigning world champions being knocked out in the group stage.
Germany joins the list of Spain (2014), Italy (2006) and France (2002) as world champions that have endured embarrassing exits. Germany coach Joachim Low said he felt “huge disappointment” at seeing the holders crash out of the World Cup but said they had fully deserved it.

“I’m shocked because we didn’t manage to beat South Korea and qualify,” said Loew, who said he would wait for “a couple of hours” before making any decision on his future. "The disappointment of us being eliminated is just huge. We didn’t deserve to win the title again, we didn’t deserve to make the last 16. We tried hard to win, but we never earned the chance to take the lead."

MEXICO SURVIVES

Mexico survived a nail-biting scare to advance to the World Cup’s round of 16 as defending champion Germany was stunningly dumped out of the tournament on Wednesday. With Mexico falling 3-0 behind to Sweden in Yekaterinburg it was left with no choice but to hope that the Germans failed to win their game against South Korea, being played simultaneously in Kazan.

World Cup 2018: Euphoric Mexico fans search out South Korean ambassadors after win over Germany and make him down shots of tequila.

Mexico fans have been treating South Korean supporters like royalty after their team helped knock out Germany from the World Cup. The defending champions crashed out after losing to South Korea 2-0, their earliest World Cup exit in 80 years, and Sweden beat Mexico 3-0 to top Group F. When Sweden's third goal went in Mexican fans were in despair, but their tears turned to cheers as South Korea continued to hold the Germans, then scored two goals in a dramatic injury time period. Fans celebrated outside the Yekaterinburg Arena in Russia and at South Korea's embassy in Mexico City by chanting ‘Korean, brother, now you’re Mexican!’.

EMERGENCY IN JAMMU & KASHMIR

EMERGENCY IN JAMMU & KASHMIR

The BJP on Tuesday ended its three-year-old alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and pulled out of the PDP-led Jammu and Kashmir government, setting the stage for yet another round of Governor’s rule.

BJP general secretary Ram Madhav made the surprise announcement after the party high command summoned its Jammu and Kashmir ministers for emergency consultations in New Delhi. A few hours later, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti submitted her resignation to Governor N N Vohra amid a swirl of political activity in Srinagar and New Delhi.

The killing of the journalist, police personnel and the army soldier on his way home for Eid, were the proverbial 'last nail in the coffin'. The timing of the abrogation of the alliance was to a great extent, influenced by the increased threats to the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra.

The primary reason is that there is a lack of synergy in the actions of the multiple stakeholders in the state. There is a need for concurrent action with respect to proactive administration to redress grievances, political engagement and relentless pressure on inimical elements. What it implies is that improved governance, retention of pressure on terrorists through the kinetic application of force by the army and CPOs, engagement of separatist leadership by the political apparatus and innovative psychological initiatives to address the existing angst of the youth of the Valley, need to be 'simultaneous, concurrent and consistent'.

In conclusion, it must be noted that there is a euphoria even in the people of the Valley. They feel that the improved security situation under the Central rule, will revive trade and commercial activity, increase the tourist footfall and give them an opportunity to increase their earnings. Even the people in Jammu and Ladakh are excited because there will now be due attention given to their development and infrastructure requirements. The government needs to use this time to once again look at formalizing an 'all-party long-term strategy' for the state.

NO More River Rafting in Rishikesh

NO More River Rafting in Rishikesh

Bad news for the rafting lovers !!!!

The Uttarakhand High Court has banned water sports, white water rafting and paragliding in the state citing safety and environmental concerns. The order has come as a huge shock to the adventure tourism industry in their peak season. While the timing of the order dealt a huge blow to the tourism ministry during their peak season, most are unaware that the case regarding water sports in the state has been going on since 2014.

Established around the early 1980s, the white water rafting industry in Rishikesh has estimated annual revenue of close to 75-80 crores.

Hari Om Kashyap, a Rishikesh-based activist had filed a petition before the high court in 2014 stating that white river rafting is conducted in the state's waters without the supervision of any law. Acting on his plaint, the high court in its order earlier this week said, "We are shocked to know that the state government is permitting camping sites on the river beds. It pollutes the environment and ecology of the river and the surrounding areas."

A report by Hindustan Times asserts that the industry attracts as many as three lakh people every rafting season. The tourist influx is managed by more than 300 operators along the 36-km Kaudiyala-Rishikesh belt who offer lucrative rates as low as Rs 500 per person.

While beach camping sites are one major concern, the death of rafters is another. Several cases in the past have illustrated how operators compromise on the safety of the rafters just to cut down on petty costs. However, the industry's impact on the river Ganga is by far the most serious threat posed by the rafting industry. While movement of both tourists and rafters in such large numbers causes erosion of the river bed, camps on river beds result in plastic waste and litter being thrown into the river which decimates an already troubled 2,525 km-long river Ganga.

Plastics have destroyed our eco-system and now are choking the rivers.

The sanctity of river Ganga is not maintained by permitting the lease of river beds. The raw
sewage and other waste flow directly into the river.
