LET US SUPPORT PEOPLE OF SHIMLA ....... THIS TIME BY NOT GOING THERE !!!!!
Lets Give Shimla a Break
A plea to everyone who loves mountains, it's about time all of us stop visiting Shimla for a while.
============================================================
The beautiful city is facing acute water shortage, because of increased tourism, bad water management and bad winters earlier this year. The residents are barely getting water to drink, and at a few places, sewage water is being supplied to the houses.
More than half a dozen districts and Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla are facing a severe drinking water crisis. Due to deficient precipitation during winter, the major water sources have either gone fully or partially dry. And despite a number of small and big rivers flowing through the State, successive governments have done nothing to lift water from these perennial sources.
The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Tuesday ordered all construction activity to be stopped in Shimla for a week as the city struggles with shortage of water. The court also banned the washing of cars for a week within municipal limits.
And it will only get worse as the tourists throng the place in large numbers during june, and it will make life really difficult for the locals, who already have to wait in long lines to get their water.
Until it rains and snow in adequate amount, the only way out is not putting added pressure on Shimla.
SO DON'T TRAVEL TO SHIMLA FOR A WHILE, AND HELP THE MOUNTAINS RECOVER THEIR WATER LEVELS.
